These paintings were inspired after I visited Australia in 2007, and was impressed by the use of color, design, and imagination in depicting natural wonders. I decided to illustrate scenes in the California Desert and under the sea using some of the techinques I saw in use in the Outback.
This vivid acrylic painting on canvas was inspired by the landscape of the Coachella Valley at sunset . It depicts farming, cities and desert with the backdrop of the surrounding mountains at night. Animal prints are incorporated into the design to illustrate how they coexist with civilization.
The original painting is 36" x 24" x .5" and available, as are limited edition prints.

Winter in the Coachella Valley, CA is a dazzling spectacle with snow on the encircling mountain tops. The pass and Palm Springs Ariel Tram normally has the most snow. Summer in the Southern CA desert is very hot. Cabot's Pueblo shimmers in the hot sun and only a rattlesnake and roadrunners are out and about.
